When Hard Times Fall, Praise Through the Storm | Life with M3

Some of you may know that my husband lost his job awhile back. It was unexpected. It caught us completely off guard. Things like this happen and it can often call everything into question.

One of the things I’ve learned to do in times like this is to start really counting my blessings. Focusing on the positive rather than the negative can push a bad situation back up the hill and out of the valley. Let me tell you, friend, it isn’t always easy to see the blessings. Sometimes they are covered in fog and rain, but they are there.

As we enter this weekend, our family has found a glimmer of hope. My husband was offered a new job that has the potential to be better than anything we could have hoped for. It is a ray of sunshine in the dreary thunderstorm we have been living in. With that ray of sunshine came the fulfillment of an answer to prayer.

Are we out of the woods? Not completely. There are still bills to be paid (including rent) and groceries to be bought to keep our children fed. Lights need to be kept on. We’ve never been a family that goes out often. We don’t use or have luxury items. It’s just the bare minimum. But, when you don’t have the ability to provide those, it can get scary.

Despite the situation, I am choosing to see the blessings:

  1. I am thankful for a God who provides even when I can’t see Him or feel Him working. He is faithful and never stops.
  2. I am thankful for my husband’s new job and his ability to return to work with a colleague from a previous employer.
  3. I am thankful for my new Dot friends and the perfect timing of my introduction to them.
  4. I am thankful for my church and my church family for loving on me when times are hard.
  5. I am thankful for my growing business and the ability to schedule my work around the family schedule in times that I need to be more flexible.
